A mixtape I made entirely from source material of rap radio cassettes.
I recorded all of these on a Sony stereo back around 1993 onwards (I dunno, maybe 1999 is an overstatement but SOMETIME around then???!) - there are also one or two cuts from a 1989 tape too - and this mix is all made from a little collection of those tapes. I can't get enough of the sound, the drops, the interludes, the interviews, all that stuff that happened on those shows. It was a purely magical time back then, where I made so many of the discoveries that would form my core of hip hop knowledge and listening.
There is so much I could type about all of this, and this mix is literally a scratch on the surface, but I wanted to get some of this stuff down in one form or other. Another volume will come along soon enough... Time allowing...!
