There was a period before Serato came around and before I messed with CDJs, where I would make a unique backing track edit set (bit like a mixtape), and later play over this at a live show. I would go to crazy efforts to make each one unique, as I didn't want to just re-do the same set all the time, but this did have drawbacks of course... It would take so long - I used my MPC a lot for these - but also you couldn't really improvise or move freely in the set. It was a long time ago and I've learned so many lessons since, but it was a fun time and I threw some loud and dope beats out there through doing this so I don't regret it! It was just a learning phase and one that was really cool to go through as it would evolve into the Ableton sets later on, I think.
