While I was staying in Laos for a couple of years back in 2016, I met Australian singer/songwriter Ange Takats and a few of us 'kind of' formed a band. Band is a very loose term for what was basically a boat trip on the Mekong with a few of us who had instruments, where we'd all either play or sing or put some percussion down while the boat motored along, and then stopped for a while. All of us timed it to perfection, so we'd be out on the river while the sun was yawning over the mountains and throwing us down some of its last moments of glory.

Ange had been making/playing music for years, and we got to hear a ton of her new and old material, but she and i decided to make some new music which would be a collaboration of my beat-based programming and layering, with her guitar and vocals.

On this collection of the instrumentals, I've included only my contributions to the project, but you can find the original project here:

It was all entirely made in Luang Prabang, Laos, through some time in 2017. I produced the beats and mixed it all in the Mr & Mrs Peace labs, and for Ange's side of things we recorded it all in a school next to temperemental chickens and under the local airpath. But somehow we wrenched it out...

These instrumentals are a bit remastered and bumped up, and the drumapellas are kind of alternate / dub mixes of the originals, and to be fair to Ange's contributions too! Again, you can find the missing parts on the link above.

I very much hope you enjoy - I did a ton of music out in Laos, which is where I started the 'Present' project, and it's really nice to say hello to it after what feels like such a long time and such a different universe.
